Now, lets put all the new information obtained today into action. Lets start by analyzing some writing samples and determining which level of development the students are at. Then, an assessment method will be selected for each piece of writing. Finally, an extension activity will be created for each student's work.

This is a writing sample from a 3rd grader student. The topic is to describe a healthy restaurant to eat at and to explain why they like to eat there. With your partner, examine the writing sample and complete the Writing Development Analysis sheet.
Student #2
This is a writing sample from a 2nd grade student. In this piece, the student explains fire safety after watching a short video about it. With your partner, examine the writing sample and complete the Writing Development Analysis sheet.
Student #3
This is a writing sample from a 1st grade student. The teacher read a story about animals that hibernate. The students then had to draw a picture of an animal that hibernates and explain their picture. With your partner, examine the writing sample and complete the Writing Development Analysis sheet.
